Chicken Soup for the Writer’s Soul

Today is the perfect time to dream.
“Chicken Soup” is a phrase that will catch anybody’s eyes if they find it on a book. And I’ve found it happening a lot of times right in front of my eyes. Although I never got to taste the proverbial soup I can say this is the best chicken soup I have ever had.
As a writer, I discovered very quickly that adult readers are just grown-up children.
Chicken soup is the kind of soup that nourishes you and helps you with protein and calories. The book does the similar job, only it nourishes the soul – the soul of a writer. Or somebody who wants to be a writer.
Writing is like sending coded messages into space. You never know if someone is out there receiving.
So what does this book contain? What are the ingredients of this soup? True stories of a great many number of writers.
These stories tell you of how after receiving maybe a 1000 rejections, somebody got their work published. And how that changed their lives.
He thought it was miracle that a writer could conjure up an image in his own head, translate that image to marks on a page and then, through the catalytic action of reading have the same image appear in another person's head.
How sacred is the written word that paints portraits on our souls.
The best thing about these stories is that you can relate to many of them on a base level. It is so because every writer starts from the same point – the rookie. And it is from this point that they tell us their stories.
It has been my observation that success is not about being the most brilliant, educated or talented, it is about being the most determined, about hanging on the longest and never giving up.
There are a lot of things to learn from this book. In fact, every story has something to tell you, otherwise it would have just been a glossary.
You want readers to taste, touch, smell and feel the very experience you're sharing.
This book tells you that there is a story everywhere and in everyone. Everything plays a role in the writing of a book.

I have been passionate about writing from a very young age. But I never really gave much thought into it. Maesha got this book as a gift, and at one point she gave me the book to read knowing my passion for writing. I started reading the stories, and something stirred in me.
But old yearnings can be hard to lay to rest. From the time I first discovered books, I wanted to be a writer, but they said you must write about what you know. For me, this would have covered about three pages. It seemed hopeless.
These people telling their stories, they are just regular people. Nobody became a published writer miraculously over night. In fact, they spent many nights and days, only after which they achieved what they achieved.
Get ready for an emotional roller-coaster ride if you intend to publish a book.
Hearing how much the book has touched me, Maesha decided to give me the permanently. She told me that the book is meant more for me than for her. While she is amazing at writing herself and could have been just as much benefitted as I have been, I can’t thank her enough for being so thoughtful. <3
Writing is the only place I can be myself and not feel judged.
Since this is not an everyday book, I decided to read the stories between regular intervals. And as I went through the book, I realized something else. I realized that I want to be a published author one day. Yes, this is the dream I now live for. This book has boosted my spirit in ways I can’t explain in words, which is ironic.
Writing is about time spent with words until eventually they become your friends and begin to cooperate with your gifted storyteller's mind.
Anyone can read it, of course. But it is best for all those who have a passion for writing.

After a long and terrible journey, a lost soul has come home, home to the words.

  1. I knew this book was meant for someone who would devour it by every word and would connect to it closely enough for making sonething out of it. And I stand by my judgement. This is a lovely review.
